View Full Version : What is elastic steel
From the pics and info on the ad page Elastic steel looks like all you are doing is static stretches using a rubber band for resistance.
What is special about this program? I guess I am asking why should someone pay for this information? There is already so much information out there on stretching, a lot of it free. What does this program offer that others don't?

Dear Kit,
You are absolutely correct, there is a lot of information out there, and big part of it is free. I would guess that if a dedicated person follows a basic stretching routine and all the conditions are right, that student would achieve a split. Some information is also available on kicking techniques development, but less of it.
The goal of ElasticSteel method is to condition an athlete prior to stretching. Our techniques have been used by athletes to accelerate their strength, balance, speed and flexibility gain. Our program also minimizes a chance of injury. The macro and micro sequence of training techniques is just as important to an athlete's success as are the techniques.
So to answer your question: what does this program provide that others don't? It provides diligently tested method of exercise sequencing. It also provides a group of exercises developed to take advantage of the latest research in stretching physiology.
Hope this helps,

Thank you for your kind answer.
Does the method require the use of the elastic band, or can it be done without them?
Thanks

Hi Kit,
The elastic bands make extended length conditioning safer. Unlike regular conditioning, extended length conditioning strengthens the exact part of the muscle at the exact angle, where the stretch will take place. Elastic bands are the most inexpensive, and usefull piece of equipment for that purpose. Some body weight exercises can be substituted for elastic band exercises. How ever those exercises are more difficult to perform.
Therefore in our oppinion, the bands are not neccessary, but are highly useful part of the ElasticSteel method.
Please let me know if you have any more questions,

Kit, E.S. is just a name for a strength/flexibility method.

I am totally new to this site infact im not sure how it really works, however I came here to gain information on flexibilty and learn how to achieve the perfect split. I do yoga and pilates regularly and have been doing it for about 3 months but flexibilty is very limited with these sequences and progress is slow. I am more flexible than when i started but not nearly enough as to how much i would like to be. Please could someone give me some information on how i could learn to do the splits, in all directions. I would be very grateful
thanx

Just like I answered someone asking similar question. If getting splits was a matter of few exercise, there would be books written on it.
