As ive been doing all the streching exercises from the dvd I bought here and I also do the veraflexmachine I bought my question is this. I have improved in my height kicks and now i'm stuck at a plateau I cant seem to get passed where im at now or get passed a certain degree with the versaflex. I know i'm going to be 43 and i'm in great shape. i'm a big muscular guy but my mauy thai kicks are preety awesome and strong its the high kicks that just are stuck now cant get my leg any higher. I hit a wall. Now my focus isnt just to do a high kick ot would be nice to atleast get another foot of height on my kick. What should I do now. Oh and a side not for those who wish to purchase a versaflex and you are a muscular guy good luck you will be going thrugh gears all the time because they stripe out because of my big strong legs pushing one way and the machine pushing the other way. If they can ever fix that problem the machine would be great. But anyway paul can you help me
right leg side kick preety good height left side not as good as right and a little lower. As I statedmauy thai kicks toward the shin and knee excellent even instructor says I have great power
right and left round house kicks needs work on getting the height of the kick thats where i'm stuck now.cmon paul help me out on some ideas to improve this. I'm 43 doing this for almost a year . I remember when I started out I couldnt lift my leg to kick for shit, lol now 8 months later big difference but I want more

Hi,
By the Dvd I'm assuming you mean the everything you want to know about stretching dvd. If your stretching has reached a sticking point it could be for one of many reasons. How long do you hold your stretches for and how much extended length conditioning do you do?
As for the height of your kicks, the Dvd is just purely for stretching. To develop strength for kicking height is a different kind of training. Slow kicking etc. have you thought about looking into the kicking series?

well any one of the kicking series dvd's they have a section dedicated to kick for height. I think you would be better going for the roundhouse one.

Well dave I went ahead and got the round house series and I hope I didnt waste my money. I will put 100% into this. Does being a 225 solid muscle guy have anything to do with my flexibilty with my legs. I dont work out with my legs anymore just do kick boxing routines for my legs to get them into shape. No more weighted squats. All free squating now with my own body weight, lunges, kness, round houses on the bag, thai kicks on the bag.I do side kicks by using a chair and going over the chair slowly. So I'll post my progress

Nunzio,
I had exactly the same problem with my Versaflex machine. The gears got worn out and did so pretty much immediately after the warranty period expired. Did you manage to get your gears replaced? The company told me that they could not sell a replacement set of gears so the machine is now pretty much unusable.
Incidentally, I am not sure the quick release mechanism really is a good thing for your muscles. How did you find it? Also, the fact that the machine only adjusts in increments of approx two degrees is not ideal in my opinion, when you are working at the outter limits of your flexibility - for this reason I think the wheel operated machines, which allow for very slight changes in opening, are safer and better. What do you think?

Mike

Mine broke within the warranty and not only did it break once it broke 2x so I got a replacement part the whole middle section with the gears and some how I got 2 more replacement parts sent to me.I'm not complaining they must of made a mistake. So I have mine working and 2 more parts in my closet incase it breaks again. If it does break again and I go through those parts I will buy the other one with the wheel. I only use the last whole on the machine to insert pegs by your boys not by your feet. If I use the wholes by the feet they will stripe again so I just use the other wholes.and when i'm streched out preety far I wont use the gearing to release i'll just lift off the pegs. hey it works and it saves the machine. If they can come up with a better way for this not to break the machine would be exellent. but if your a big muscular guy its not for you unless your careful and improvise while using it. I do like it and my streches have gotten better but hit a wall now
