Hi all
firstly apologies if this is in the wrong forum but I have a quick question I hope you can help me with.
2 and a half years ago during a taekwondo lesson I managed to dislocate my patella whilst incorrectly performing a side kick. I have been looking at Paul's DVD about knee injuries and was wondering if anything on dislocation was included or if there are any tips on there that would help me. As yet I haven't been able to go back and I would sincerely love to - it's been a long and slow rehab and I want to make sure that my knee is strong and 100% before I go back.
many thanks

Well it really depends on why it dislocated in the first place and what else you damaged during the dislocation process. The chances you have done some ligament damage too! Have you had Physio?

Hi Dave
basically it was poor technique on my part - I didn't turn my foot enough and as I twisted the force caused my patella to go. I am a senior radiographer so have knowledge of bones and joints - had an MRI that identified the usual tear an effusion associated with a dislocation plus a partial tear of the medial collateral ligament.
My Orthopaedic surgeon said as I was the 'right' age I didnt need lateral release surgery it shouldn't reoccur. Have had lengthy physio yes.
I am just wondering if Paul covers this type of injury in his DVD and I am keen to know how (aside from ensuring I adjust my technique) I can improve knee staility/strength further and how I can prevent it happening again.

Speak to the orthapaedic surgeon. He would have a good idea I would have thought.
