Hi All,

I'm just about to buy the book and DVD but would appreciate your views so I can set my expectation levels correctly on what I will achieve and how long.

About me, well.....

I'm approaching mid fourties
Am coming back to martial arts after a number of years off
I've never been that flexible even as a kid and struggle to kick much above the mid section
One reason for my lay off was a slipped disk that I needed to have an op to correct
So as you can see, I'm somewhere towards the lower end with my flexibility. What I'm looking to find out is what's your view on what's a reasonable target both for flexibility and duration. Appreciate the hard work needs to be put in of course and reading reviews, if you were to do the full DVD stretches and excercises in one run it would take around 1.5 hours. So any views on do we break this down to perform over days, do we need to do c. 3 days a week of the full set, more, less....

Cheers in advance for any replies.

Dave

Hi Dave,
Well the answer to the first qusestion is, it depends on how much you put in. Noone can say for sure how long it would take for you to reach a full split but I can assure you 3 months from now you will have made very good gains if you follow the program propperly. Before you do any stretching read the book, watch the dvd and read the leaflet which comes with the dvd. This will tell you how to tailor a program that suits you. 1 hour 30 should be enough time for your evening routine but you also need a morning one too which can last upto 30 mins.

Thanks Dave,

Am currently doing around 1/2 hour stretching per day. 3 sets of 40 sec for box split, lunge, calf, hurdle and butterfly stretches.

From what you say sounds like about another hour on top of that will be needed (replacing what I'm currently doing with what's in the DVD and Video).
